Founder and Author

Kate Grochowski

Kate Grochowski began her formal classical training at The Sarasota Ballet School at age five. She studied under Deborah Vinton, a Fellow of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) and Fellow of the Cecchetti United States of America (CUSA). After studying under Deborah Vinton for 14 years, she began to pursue a professional performing career.

Grochowski attended Elon University in North Carolina to earn a B.F.A. in Dance Performance and Choreography. In addition to the emphasis on performance and choreography, Grochowski focused on the pedagogy of dance, somatics in action, anatomy for dancers, and entrepreneurship. During this season, she had the privilege of working with Gaspard & Dancers, directed by former Pilobolus member Gaspard Louis, and with Kearns Dance Project, directed by Lauren Kearns. Additionally, she studied and danced under Marga Nativo at the Florence Dance Center in Florence, Italy.

While she has pursued performance and choreography, Grochowski has simultaneously been instructing at private dance schools and pre-professional studios. She has become incredibly passionate about educating the next generation as a teacher and director and has found herself engulfed in pedagogy at this time. Dance Studio Syllabus is the product of her dance education, professional experience, academic background, and hands on research.
